Gurugram: A 75-year-old woman who was fully vaccinated died from Covid on Thursday, the second person to give up on infection this week.
He had taken a second shot at the Covishield about three months ago, on August 10.
Sector 49 Residents were treated in private hospitals on November 10 after he complained of shortness of breath, high fever and cough, according to the Ministry of Health officials.
There, he tested positive for Covid-19.
Initially, patients, who also suffered asthma, diabetes and hypertension, were managed with fluid IV, antibiotics and oxygen support but had to be shifted then to the ICU, where it was intubated and stored in a mechanical ventilator.
After that, he began inotropic support.
The doctor said the woman died after a heart attack.
“He used to take a morning walk and might have contracted Covid from someone outside,” said the doctor.
He added that all the contacts were tested negatively.
On Sunday, a 71-year-old man died of Covid, the first fatality associated with infection in the city since August 24.
The man was fully vaccinated and had taken a second shot at the Covishield about five months ago.
Gurugram has reported his first Covid death in May last year, when four people died for a month.
Maximum death in a month was recorded in May this year, when 343 patients died at the height of the second wave.
Date until the date was at 925.
Officials said 925 people who died, 609 had comorbidity – 267 suffered from diabetes, 145 had hypertension, 85 had kidney disease and 112 chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Gurugram Chief Medical Officer Virender Yadav said the people were old and had comorbid conditions must avoid stepping out.
“Our team calls people in house isolation to check their condition.
Even people who are fully vaccinated must follow all Covid protocols,” he said, adding that people whose lungs and heart have been compromised need to remain in in the weather.
The doctor advised people to be fully vaccinated earlier.
“There has been an increase in cases after being diwali but most of them are not too severe.
Cases of breakthrough infections have been reported recently, so people have to get shots and follow the appropriate behavior of Covid,” said Dr.
