Moscow / Baku: Armenia said on Wednesday that three of his troops had been killed in the exchange of shots with Azerbaijan and both parties then accepted the Russian weapons ceasefire proposal to try to calm tensions.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the Azeri forces had attacked Armenian’s position near the border between the two countries.
Four Armenian soldiers were injured in the same incident, he said.
The Ministry of Defense Azerbaijan said two troops had been injured by the shooting.
In a statement, it accused Armenian troops about what was called “provocation” in Kalbajar District and said his troops would continue to reply.
Then said that it had received Russian proposals to uphold the ceasefire in the area, but also accused Armenia to continue the Azeri position.
The Armenian defense ministry also said he had received a ceasefire.
The incident was one of the most deadly since the six-week war between Armenian and standard ethnic forces for the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its surroundings ended last year.
Separately on Wednesday, a Azeri court also sentenced two Armenian soldiers to 15 years in prison on charges of espionage.
The soldiers were arrested in December after the conflict.
In the battle last September to November, the Azeri forces expelled the Armenian ethnic forces out of the plots they had controlled since the 1990s in and around the Nagorno-Karabakh region, before Russia medium to the ceasefire.
The boiling border dispute between the two has lights up, with both parties accusing each other from separate attacks to their respective regions in recent months, highlighting the fragility of the ceasefire.
