Lucknow: Two more people gave up on Covid-19 in the city on Friday, took the victim to 15 in the third wave.
But in a number of relieves, everyday case counts declined for the second day in a row after the plateau for several days.
This may be an indication that the third wave has peaked in the city.
Experts, however, keep their fingers cross and say conclusions can be drawn only after watching the transmission rate for the next 3-7 days.
They also warned against satisfaction and said people had to continue to follow the safety protocol strictly because if there was too much density or hanging out during the election campaign, cases could soar again.
Two Covid deaths on Friday occurred at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Science (SGPGIMS) and RAM Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIM).
Patients at SGPGIMS are a 72-year-old man from Lucknow.
He suffered from diabetes and hypertension.
He gave up because of a heart stop triggered by Covid-19.
Another patient is a 62-year-old woman from Maha, who was treated at RAM Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences with a heart problem three days ago.
“He died of a heart failure,” said a senior health officer.
Meanwhile, at least 1,304 people, including two pregnant women and six health care workers, were tested positively.
The count was 187 less than 1,491 cases Thursday.
About 2,382 patients also recovered in the last 24 hours, carrying active cases to 12,277.
Among the new cases, Aliganj, which was recorded 198, Alambagh 156, Chinhat 149, Indiranagar 121, Sarojininagar 93, NK Road 44, Turiyaganj 37.
Meanwhile, at least 36,140 people were affixed against Covid-19 on Friday at 168 centers in all districts .
While 12,896 people took the first dose, 19,417 received a second dose of booster and 3,827, officials said.
