Bengaluru: Heavy rain in various parts of Karnataka for the past 24 hours has claimed three lives, causing landslides in eight places and evacuation of around 9,000 people, while the government has sounded a red warning in seven districts.
The Chairperson of Minister B Yediyurappa, who reviewed the flood situation with high-ranking officials on Friday, directed all ministers and MLA who was responsible in the district to oversee their work.
He said the government would expand all the support needed for relief and rescue efforts and help farmers who suffered losses due to unlimited rain and hail.

Manoj Rajan, Commissioner, the State Disaster Management Authority Karnataka said several parts of the BELIGAVI, Chikkamagaluru, Dharward, Haveri, Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada faced the burden of flooding due to continuous rain for the past few days.
Krishna River, Cauvery, Tungabhadra, Bhima, Kapila (Kabini) and many others in Malnad and the coast of Karnataka are in the Spate, said KSDMA officers.
Details distributed by him showed that 131 villages in 18 talents were beaten badly, affecting 16,213 people.
While three people lost their lives, two were missing.
Rain damaged 21 houses completely and 804 houses were partially.
Sixty-five bridges, 10 schools and the primary health center were damaged, while 291.03 km road was washed away.
So far, 8,733 people have been evacuated to a safe place.
The country has opened 80 relief camps where 4,964 people lived.
Landslides were reported in eight places, including Virajpet in the Kodagu District and Arangail Ghat in Uttara Kannada Regency.
The red warning has been heard in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru Regency, Hassan and Kodagu for the next 24 hours with great likely to be very heavy rainfall and orange warnings, in the Bataghiavi and Dharwad, officers.
