Panaji: The India International Science Festival (IISF) has set three Guinness World Records in a few days.
Monday saw thousands of students from Goa and throughout India participated in the biggest lesson on spacecraft exploration.
Students built a replica of the giant radio telescope antenna attended talks, making it a third consecutive world record in three days.
Chairman of the Pramod Minister Sawant tweeted his support, “I congratulate the participants who reached this extraordinary achievement at the India International Science Festival 2021.” Guinness World Record for most people assembled the Rocket Model Kit simultaneously and launched it resolved on Saturday.
On Sundays, records for most people assemble rainwater harvesting kits online and in one place is complete.
A total of 531 students of class XI from 11 schools in Goa collected a gaganyan rocket model kit with 20 different components for two hours at the festival on Saturday.
These rockets were then tested to be launched at the Panaji Gymkhana Panjajungan, making it the first attempt to send the “most rocket kit of one venue”, thus creating Guinness World Record.
Of the 531 rockets, 496 was successfully launched.
This is accompanied by talks by ISRO scientists who explain the upcoming gaganyan mission.
Interestingly, nearly 50% of students come from rural caves, which are trained to build rockets from the start.
In addition, 940 students of class VII and VIII of Goa and nearly 3,000 students from 125 cities throughout India (join online) building a rainwater harvesting model and water purification on Sundays.
This is done using plastic cups and purification systems that have five layers of filtration – mesh, gravel, sand, charcoal and cotton.
