Haldia: At least three people died when a fire broke out at the Haldia spinery from Indian oil corporations in Purba District Medinipur Bengal Barat on Tuesday afternoon.
44 people also suffered injuries in the incident, police officials said.
Three people were killed and 44 others suffered injuries in a broken fire in the Haldia driver from Indian oil companies in the Purba District of Medinipur West Bengal on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
IOC, in a statement, said the incident occurred in the refinery unit during the related work shutdown.
“The main cause seems to be a flash fire that leads to burn injury to 44 people and 3 people unfortunately give up on their injury,” he said.
The fire was extinguished and the situation was under control, said IOC.
Of the 44 injured, 37 was being referred to the hospital in Kolkata, a senior police officer in Purba District Medinipur told PTI.
The condition of seven of them was declared critical, he added.
