Jaipur: After Rajasthan Transport Department becomes the first in this country to make it mandatory to encourage SIM applicants to declare their willingness or reluctance for organ declarations, almost 3 Lakh applicants agreed to donations of corpse organ between September 2020 and December 2021.
Until July this year, There are 2 lakhians who have promised for the same thing and this number saw a leap of 1 lakh within six months and now officials of the Department of Transportation will write to the Ministry of Health and the Principal of Medical College to coordinate with them to increase the scope.

Mahendra Soni, Transportation Commissioner, described an increase of 1 lakh said, “There are several reasons for this increase but the most important thing is that we make it mandatory for applicants to say yes or not for organ donation options previously they can skip.

“2.9 Applicants have promised to donate organs while applying for their driving license including a student license.
In 2018, the State Transportation Department included a new category – asking applicants if they were organ donors – in an online application for driving SIM updates and for new publishing.
However, applicants will choose the ‘Pass’ option because it was replaced with a ‘response’ in yes or no, in August last year.
The desert state is also the first to issue a SIM that bears the ‘donor organ’ logo.
Officials claim that this initiative makes it simpler for the authorities in the event of an accident or if the individual is declared dead brain to take his organs and contribute to patients who need a transplant.
