KABUL: The Taliban confiscated three more provinces in Afghanistan, officials said on Wednesday, placing nine 34 countries in the hands of the rebels amid the US withdrawal from the country.
The fall of the capital of Badakhshan and the Province of Baghlan to the northeast and Farah province to the west puts pressure on the country’s central government to stem face waves.
While Kabul himself has not been immediately threatened in advance, the Taliban attack continues to stretch Afghan security forces now mostly struggle against their own rebels.
The Afghan government and military did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
Humayoon Shahidzada, a member of Parliament from Farah, was confirmed to the Provincial Capital Associated Press down.
Hujatullah Kheradmand, a parliamentary member from Badakhshan, said the Taliban had seized his province.
An Afghan official, who spoke with the terms of anonymously to talk about unrecognized losses, said the city of Baghlan also fell.
The previous rebels arrested six other provincial capitals in this country in less than a week, including Kunduz in Kunduz Province, one of the largest cities in the country.
After a 20-year-old western military mission and billions of dollars spent on training and supporting Afghan forces, many are contradictory to explain why regular troops have collapsed, sometimes escaping from hundreds.
The battle has fallen into small groups of elite forces and Afghan air forces.
The success of Taliban Blitz has added urgency for the need to restart the long stopped talks in Qatar which can end the battle and move Afghanistan towards the inclusive temporary government.
The rebels so far refused to return to the negotiation table.
The US peace envoy, Zalmay Khalilzad, brought a warning to the Taliban on Tuesday that every government in power in Afghanistan would not be internationally recognized.
Tens of thousands of people have fled their homes in the north of the country to escape from the battle that have flooded their cities and villages.
The family has flowed to the capital, Kabul, living in the park and walk with a little food or water.
