Tamil Nadu has continued to urge the center to start the production of covid vaccines in these two units.
100 Acre IVC – was established in 2012 by the government upa for making vaccines against rabies, measles, Japanese encephalitis, and hepatitis B – never used.
TN’s request to the center to provide rental facilities was also rejected.
On Thursday, Minister of Health TN MA Subramanian will meet with Mandaviya workers’ government colleagues with a number of demands including more vaccines for TN.
“We will ask the center to start the production of vaccines at IVC and Pasteur Institute, start receiving students in AIIMS in Madurai, and will seek liberation from Neet,” said Subramanian.
Minister of Health in Delhi to urge the Center to increase TN Vax Supply Special Minister Ma Subramanian goes for New Delhi on Wednesday to put pressure on the UNI Ministry for Tamil Nadu.
Although the average number of vaccinations a day has increased, the state still has to cover more than 10 doses of crore.
The minister said he would ask the Ministry of Health to redeem uneven distribution by increasing supply with two other crore doses, he said.
Chief Minister M K Stalin previously asked PM Narendra Modi to provide 1 dose of crore immediately as a special allocation.
This will be discussed based on the priority at the meeting on Thursday afternoon, Subramanam told reporters at Chennai Airport on Wednesday.
Asked whether the three companies had approached to produce vaccines in the HLL Biotech unit in Chengalpet, said Subramanian, “we will emphasize the need to start making vaccines in Chengalpet and Coonor Pasteur Institute as early as possible.” The HLL unit, was established on ₹ 700 crore, has lied more than a decade and floating tender (inviting an offer to use a place for manufacturing vaccines) no response.
After reporting more than 3 lakh vaccinations over the past two days, TN reported a decline in vaccination on Wednesday, the state gave 2,07,259 doses – 1,57,689 doses of covishield and 49,570 covaxin doses.
It takes the total vaccination number to 1.7 crore.
According to the data of the Ministry of Health Union, around 30 lakh people in Tamil Nadu received a vaccine dose.
This is approximately less than 5% of the country’s population.
Some districts reported acute deficiencies for the second dose of Covaxin.
When the announcement in Covaxin is available, people pamper the vaccine camp, especially those in the middle region.
For example, more than 2,000 people arrive at the center of Pudukkottai, which only has 500 doses in stock.
Within the limits of Chennai, people were sent back from the corporate vaccine center on Wednesday due to shortcomings.
