Coimbatore: At least three people in the district have lost more than Rs 7.3 lakh to fraudsters, who sent them to messages on their cellphones, asking them to update KYC details to maintain their bank account.
Among those deceived is S SELVAKUMUARAN, 38, from Pudur KK near Thudiangur.
Employees Lathe Workshop, he received a text message from an unknown cellphone number on Monday, asking him to immediately update the KYC form, because if the bank account will be blocked, the police said.
“He opened a link, which directed it to a fake web page from the nationalized bank.
