TRICHY: The Hindu religious & charitable endowments (HR&CE) division on Monday evicted three stores from the century-old rock halls in Arulmigu Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam.
The flooding has been carried out according to an order issued from the Madras high court.
The temple distance in two rock halls were inhabited by the 3 stores for over 40 decades.
Through a meeting, it had been discovered that the stores posed a hazard to the security of the construction.
On the other hand, the eviction notice was contested from the shopkeepers at the large court in 2018 and has been under litigation ever since that time.
In an order dated April 29, 2021, the court led that the shopkeepers to vacate before May 30, 2021.
“Considering that the appellants didn’t remove their possessions by themselves over the deadline, so we evicted the possessions.
HR&CE will recover the expense of flooding in the shopkeepers,” stated Marimuthu, joint commissioner, Srirangam temple.
