30 Sovereign Gold, RS 3L locked up

Coimbatore: Kuniyamuth police have formed a special team to catch a thief who fell asleep with 30 sovereign gold ornaments, Rs 3.22 lakh and luxury watches from a locked house in Brindavan Circle in South Kuniyamuthur on Friday.
The owners of Mubarak Ali have gone by his in-laws’ house in Karumbukkaskur on Thursday.
He returned on Friday morning to find the main door open.
“Thieves open a wooden wardrobe and steel bureau to take 30 sovereign gold ornaments, Rs 3.22 lakh and watches,” said a police officer.
The team from Kuniyamuthur Police Station checked the place.
Personnel of the fingerprint bureau lifted several prints from the crime scene.
A sniffer dog is also pressed into service.
There was no CCTV camera in the area, the officer said.
“We plan to form 15 special teams to check the break-in house.
Team members will patrol streets with ordinary clothes for nab thieves,” he added.
