Kolkata: Covid-19 Vaccine Zycov-D will be sent for clinical trials to determine the efficacy of the two-dose regime.
Three vaccine dose schedules have been approved in August but have not been launched.
Now, the efficacy of the two dose regimes will be studied in India at 3,000 volunteers, including 300 at Kolkata Leelan Hospital.
“Our hospital ethics committee has given a green light.
We hope to begin this research when the bottle arrives and it must be this weekend or early next week,” said Clinical Director and Leerful Academics Subhrojyoti Bhowmick, co-principle investigators with Sarkar, Director of the critical care unit.
The vaccine that was approved by Zydus Cadila was being given in three shots on day 0, 28 and 56.
Now, the upcoming trial will have a vaccine given in two shots – on days 0 and 28.
But the amount will remain the same.
