Panaji: Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday said that the license of nearly 3,000 taxi operators in the 0-1 series, will be stopped because it failed to install digital meters within the specified limit even when the Directorate of Transportation has begun to fit a digital cost schedule for the vehicle number registered Series 2 and 3.
Department on Wednesday issued a notification stating that the last date to install the digital cost meter is August 18, for vehicles in this number series.
“People who have not compiled the direction of the High Court must face action.
A total of 2,934 taxi operators in series 0 to 1 have not followed the direction of the High Court and government bureaucrats and transportation officers will be withdrawn for this.
We will not have an alternative, but to stop taxi permits From this operator.
I hope that the more 2 and 3 draws will at least follow direction and install digital meters, “he said.
There are 3,584 taxi operators in the 0 to 1 series bracket which only 137 installed digital meters while 513 order made.
The last date for fitment is July 24.
The department has determined eight installation centers in Goa, as opposed to the previous four, for operators to repair digital meters equipped with printers, automatic tracking devices and emergency systems.
The centers in Bicholim, Merces, Navelim, Dabolim, Porvorim, Vasco and Margao.
Transportation Minister Mauvin Godinho said that the defaulting permission of the taxi would be canceled if they failed to oblige the direction with the due date.
Godinho also said that orders who informed 50% digital meter neglect would be implemented where after three weeks of digital meter installation, the operator could claim neglect, which would then be credited to him in a few days.
