Patna: South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, Discom-owned by the Government, launched the anti-power theft campaign on Monday in 17 districts.
Drive 45 days will focus on electricity savings by preventing theft of power and misuse of feeders.
According to officials, a FIR was submitted against 31 customers from Patna Electric Supply Business (Pesu) for their involvement in theft of power on the 1st day and RS 13.55 lakh penalty was collected from the offenders.
A total of 1,768 buildings and houses were examined by various teams in Patna in 13 locations, including Ashiana Nagar, Danapur, Khagaul, DAK Bungalow, Patliputra, Gardanibagh, BankiPore, Gulzarbagh, Patna City, Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar, and new capital.
Dilip Kumar Singh, Pesu General Manager (GM) who conducted a power supply work in Patna and several peripheral regions, told this newspaper on Monday that all transformers and houses connected with them would be examined during the campaign.
“In the case of theft, actions will be taken against consumers, nesting firs and penalties collected.
All complaints related to the wrong bill or meter will also be overcome,” he said.
Pesu GM continued, “The purpose of this campaign is to ensure that people do not damage the meter to steal electricity.” Pesu has almost 7,200 transformers and 6.5 lakh consumers under his jurisdiction.
Singh said, “Nearly 7% of the 100 strange houses of our team examined in a day found stealing electricity.
Most of the landing cases were witnessed in East Patna which included Gulzarbagh and Patna City.”
