PANAJI: The country sees the new Covid-19 case of a surge for sixth day on trot, with cave recording 310 new cases, the highest since June.
Also for the first time in a few months, the two cave districts recorded a weekly peposititivity of more than 5% – during the last week of 2020, the northern cave level reached 6.73% and South Goa was 5.56%.
Even when zero death was recorded on Saturday, the active case of the state had doubled in three days, to touch 1,338, the highest active calculation since August.
Three hospitalizations were reported on Saturday, while 307 people chose home isolation.
Goa tests 4,959 samples, the highest in a few moments.
There is no release of hospitals, but 18 recovery.
During the last 24 hours, at least 54 new infections were reported in Margao, 35 in Panaji, 29 in Cortim, 23 in Cansaulim, 22 in Porvorim, 16 each in Ponda and Chinchinim, 14 in Vasco and 11 in Mapula and 11 in Mapapaa.
Margao has the highest active count with 166, followed by Panaji with 155, Cansaulim with 114, Cortim with 98, Porvorim with 87, Mapula with 64, Candolim with 56, Siolim and Ponda with 54 and Chimbel with 50.
All other health centers each each has 50 active cases.
There is no health center that has zero active cases.
On Saturday, five tourists were tested positive at Goa Airport, three on arrival and two while trying to leave.
Meanwhile, 2,004 people took both doses of vaccines and their first 617 doses, encouraged a fully vaccinated population to 11.03.901 and were partially vaccinated to 1.76,162.
Vaccination for around 72,000 children between the age group 15-18 began on Monday at school.
The dose of booster for health workers, frontline workers and seniors with comorbidity will be held from January 10 in health care centers.
The booster dose is being given to those who have completed nine months or 39 weeks after completing the second dose of vaccines.
