Nagpur: The accident involving four-wheeled drivers has claimed more lives than other road transport modes in the city in the last 17 months.
From January 1, 2020, until May 31, 2021, there were 316 accidents because the car, killed as many as 51 Pople.in comparison, 200 trucks were involved in an accident on the road in the jurisdiction of the Nagpur City Police Coming, who claimed the life of 102 people.
The data was distributed by the Nagpur City Traffic Police in return for RTI’s request submitted by Activists Abhay Kolarkar.
Driver was involved in 29 road accidents claiming the life of five people.
Exceptional in the city is not safe compared to road ring where most heavy ply vehicles.
As per RTI reply, roads, and the main highway in the city witnessed 1,022 accidents that killed 255 people.
On the ring road, there were 101 accidents where 36 people were killed.
When it comes to breaking traffic rules and regulations, two-wheeled riders lead the package.
As many as 2.48 lakh two-wheeled riders pay Rs 3.56 Crore as fine because they don’t wear a helmet while riding.
Traffic police collect RS1.20 Crore fine from 84,379 drivers without SIMs that apply in the last 17 months.
As as many as 69,262 people were arrested for using cellphones while driving.
They pay Rs 1.20 Crore in a fine.
The police sentenced 13,939 motorists / drivers to speed up, which was a big violation that contributed to road accidents, and collected RS19.94 lakh both of them.
For other violations such as driving the wrong side, 5,032 people pay Rs 20.19 lakh well while 49,398 cough RS75.62 lakh to jump red lights.
Rounding the horn in the silent zone caused 299 motorists / drivers to pay Rs 1.15lakh either.
RTI’s answer also revealed that on the issuance of 11.07.991 e-Challans, 4,89,740 offenders had not paid a fine of more than RS20.44 Crore.
