31K New Covid Case in India as Kerala Tally Dips on Onam

India recorded a little more than 31,000 fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday, a drop of more than 3,000 from the calculation of the previous day because Kerala recorded a decrease in new infections due to lower testing in the middle of the Onam festival.
India reported 31,027 new cases contrary to 34,307 on Friday, according to the toi’scovid database.
New infections have declined until August after a short surge in the last week of July.
India recorded an average of 33,821 daily cases in the last seven days (seven-day rolling average) until Friday, the lowest in more than five months since March19, when the average was 31,647.
On August 1, the figure reached 40,832.
However, the number of sharp decreases Saturday mainly because Kerala reported a drop in the case.
The country recorded 17,106 new cases, calculating under the first 20,000 in five days.
However, as testing down at night Onam, Kerala’s front level jumped to 17.73%, pointing to the possibility of cases soaring again after the celebration ended.
In Maharashtra, the daily case remains below 5,000 for the second day because the country reported 4,575 fresh infections.
India recorded 402 deaths from the virus on Saturday, up a little from victims 374.
Delhi reported only 19 new cases, the lowest daily count since April 15 last year.
