Chennai: Five state universities slipped in ranking ranking National Institutional Ranking (NIRF) 2021 released on Thursday.
While Anna University slipped by four places in the university category and the technical categories of each for rank 16 and 18, Madras University sneak six ratings from 22 to 28.
In the colleges, Loyola College is in the best college ranking in the country, moving three the place.
But, the Presidency College sneaks two ranked 7th.
A total of 32 colleges from Tamil Nadu appeared between the top 100, equal to last year.
Christian Medical College in Vellore has maintained the third position among medical colleges.
In the technical category, IIT Madras is the top ranking institute, Nit Trichy is ranked 9th and the Velore Institute of Technology 12.
Anna University Vicechancellor R VELRAJ said the reduction in the number of PhD acceptance and more students stopped their technical degree to join medicine as a reason The main slip is ranked.

The University of Bharathiar from Coimbatore slipped from 13 to 14 while the University of Bharathidasan in Trichy fell from 53 to 57 in the University category.
Madurai Kamaraj University also slipped from 60 to 63.
However, the University of Alagappa in Karaikudi has moved from 36 to 33 and Periyar University in Salem jumps over 10 places from 83 to 73.
In the teeth category, the Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences come on Third, the Institute of Education and High Research Sri Ramachandra is ranked 8th and SRM Dental College is ranked 10th.
Among the Pharmaceutical Universities, JSS College of Pharmacy in Ooty is ranked 7th.
