Bokaro: Bokaro administration will act against shop owners who sell tobacco products within 100 meters of schools.
Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Choudhary said, “So far, 321 schools have been declared to be a tobacco-free educational institution and more will be entered immediately.” During the district tobacco control control committee meeting on Friday, DC asked the consulting company to prepare a road map to implement a no-tobacco zone program within a week.
Choudhary said the district education department was asked to focus on the closest place of all schools to curb tobacco sales.
Simultaneously, the police station was directed to act against shop owners found to sell tobacco products that came within a 100 meter radius near any school.
The district police have also been directed to monitor the entrance between countries and exit to prevent sending tobacco products to the district.
Bokaro Management Steel Limited is also directed to notify the tobacco-free zone in their city and factory places and set up banners and posters at all of the gates.
