Guwahati: “Spree Meeting” in Assam continued with alleged drug vendors who were shot and injured on Friday while trying to escape from police detention in the Morigaon Assam district.
With Friday shooting incidents, 34 people were accused of different cases, including rape, murder, drug clamping, livestock smuggling and Dako, had been shot by the police, with various results, while trying to escape from detention.
Of these 34 people, 19 were shot and injured and 15 died of gunshot wounds, including 10 militants of the National Liberation Army in the past, United Front Front United and Bodoland National Liberation, in the past two months after the new government took over.
The government has also captured around 1,800 people in connection with peddling drugs.
Two large drug racquets were arrested by police in Anglong carbi, where drugs worth RS 19 Crore in the international market have recovered in the past two months.
Two drug vendors from Manipur and two women from Tamil Nadu were arrested.
In addition, the government has followed the “zero tolerance” policy on the smuggling of livestock in the state, with the police given the hand to take action against livestock smugglers.
Since May, 504 people have been arrested in connection with livestock smuggling, including four injured bullets while trying to escape.
Most of the arrests were made in minority areas in Assam Barat, including Dhubri, which borders Bangladesh.
This is related to states that the state government submitted Assam’s livestock preservation bill on July 12, during a sustainable budget session from Assembly Assam.
Opposition parties, including Congress and various other organizations, have slammed the government for “meetings”, saying it shows a dangerous future.
