35% in 18-44 groups in Mysuru have not taken vaccines

MySuru: From the moment the Covid-19 vaccine was launched on January 16 to October 16, around 83.3% of the target population in Mysuru had received the first shot, while 42.8% was fully vaccinated.
While these statistics are in line with data throughout the state, what they hide is the fact that 35% of the surprising target population in the age group of 18-44 years has not taken their first dose.
Health officials said there was no deficiency of dosage and surprised by vaccine doubts between groups which were widely regarded as ‘youth’.
“The second wave caused most problems for people in this group, but around 35% have not taken their first dose,” said an official.
However, senior citizens have emerged in large quantities to vaccinate.
District administration has estimated the target population in the 18-44 year category at 15.95,881.
Until October 16, only 65.5% of them had taken the first dose.
About 22.7% have received both doses.
District administrative data also showed around 9% of health workers (HCW) and Frontline Workers (FLW) also had not taken the first dose.
In groups of 45 years and over age, the district has achieved vaccination coverage of 103.4%.
Data shows Nanjipp has the lowest dose coverage with only 74% of the target population that took the first shot, followed by T Narasipura (75%).
Mysuru Urban Tops List with the first dose coverage of 90.4%.
“Only 16.7% in MySuru District has not taken the first dose,” said Bagadi Gautham, Deputy Deputy Commissioner.
At the coverage of the first low dose in Nanjippa and T Narasipura Taluks, he said local officials connect it to migration.
“But it has increased in the past week,” he said.
Meanwhile, in MySore City, the authorities have decided to ensure the entire qualified population get both doses on time.
Those who do not appear for the second dose will be contacted personally.
“We contacted them by telephone from the Covid-19 regency of the war to ensure no one missed the second dose,” said Corporated Health Officer Dg Nagaraj.
