COIMBATORE: greater than 3,550 rowdies and troublemakers indulging in illicit actions across eight districts are rounded up and detained in the past 15 days according to orders of West zone inspector overall N Sudhakar.
The IG’s office stated 1,959 cases were registered and 3,550 individuals were detained in a significant crackdown on illegal actions such as arrack, spirits smuggling, ganja coping, gambling and lottery.
As a consequence of the crackdown, 2,12,497 litre of brandy, 7,508 litre of additional arrack, 2,547 litre of toddy were captured and 1,740 individuals indulging in their illicit procurement, sale and preparation were detained.
Authorities also suppressed movement and sale of ganja by alerting 56 individuals and submitting 33 cases.
43 kg of this drug was seized.
People indulging in betting and lottery selling were also taken to work with 167 gaming cases being registered and 806 folks getting arrested.
29 people were detained in 19 lottery instances also.
Rs 4.78 lakh cash was seized.
As a part of this crackdown, 110 four-wheelers along with 445 2 – wheelers were seized.
