Kolkata: At least 37 people, including 20 women, were arrested early on Sunday from a five-star hotel in the city to party challenging sustainable restrictions to fight Pandemic Covid-19, an officer said.
A fired fired against hotel authorities and they were called to be questioned in connection with this problem, he added.
Two top-class vehicles along with several other ingredients including 38 cellphones and two sets of guest lists were confiscated, he said.
“Acting on a tip-off, the attack was held at the Park Hotel around 1:15 a.m.
and 37 people were arrested from the 2nd and 3rd floors to party with Hard DJ music against the restrictions on government order during Covid-19 and spread infection and spread disease infections, “He said.
“During the attack, some people who were arrested pushed and the police officials who were maintained prevented them from issuing their duties,” he added.
Two Pioneer DJ discs, one amplifier, two ballot boxes, one DJ lights, three hookah, four bottles of liquor, four empty glasses and one Puria marijuana were also confiscated, said police officer.
Police try to find out whether some other drugs are used at parties or not, he added.
The case was registered at the Park Street police station under the relevant parts of the IPC and under the disaster management law, the officer said.
The forensic team visited the hotel and collected samples from two hotel floors, where the party was held on Saturday night, the officer said.
The hotel authorities say that they have strictly followed all the norms to keep the bars and restaurants inside the hotel open.
The West Bengal government has relieved the restrictions of Coronavirus in the state and permitted bars and restaurants to operate from a certain time the following day in the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
