Letter: England’s funeral in Katargam Darwaja has been a paradise for tipplers and marijuana smokers during the day.
Now the resting place for the former Governor of the Bombay Presidency, a former letter collector and many other officials from Esthile British East India Company and their family members are comfortable at night too.
Thanks to Cyclone Tauktee and the next heavy rainfall, most of the southern wall of the grave collapsed and even after a month, the remnants of the wall remained.
It has provided easy access to anti-social elements because the grave gate is locked.
However, officials of Indian Archaeological Survey (ASI) said that the wall had collapsed recently during heavy rain.
The wall collapsed skipped damaging the tomb with less than one leg.
But some of it who hung on the support of Neem tree raises the danger to the granite tomb that is not named.
When a 372-year-old funeral premise stretched now, the land where English was buried also acting as a playground for local children.
Meanwhile, if visitors pass one of the mausoleum in front of the gate, the smell of burning marijuana cannot be missed.
“Previously people like that used to jump the gate to enter, but because the wall of the collapse became easier for them at night,” Kalpesh said, who lived right next to the grave.
“The wall collapses in heavy rain and we will reconstruct.

When asked what action planned to take against anti-social elements, Dr.
Subramanyam said, “We will take this problem with the local police to increase patrol.” ASI, however, has taken problems with city police papers several times in the past and the police have even taken abuse.
But after they were released with a guarantee, they were again seen in the same place.
