Raipur: A total of 38 officers and border security forces (BSF) have reached the martyr while fighting ultras in Chhattisgarh and Odisha in the last ten years, said a senior officer BSF on Monday.
Overcoming Reporter in Raipur, BSF Additional Director General (ADG), Chhattisgarh-Odisha, Rajwinder Singh Bhatti said that 38 BSF officers and Javan had made the highest sacrifice when fighting Naxals in Chhattisgarh and Odisha in the last decade period.
The troops have killed 18 militants and arrested nearly 1,650 cadres in both countries, added officers.
During the same period, BSF has recovered 1,473 weapons, 958 IEDs and 3,176 kg of explosives, said Bhatti, adding that 15 weapons and 54 Ied recovered last year.
At least 14 guerrillas have arrested / surrendered last year at Chhattisgarh and Odisha, he added.
BSF is currently deployed in cancer, Narayanpur and Kondago District in Chhattisgarh, and in Malkangiri and Coraput Regency in Odisha.
“Starting with 41 basis operating companies (cobs) / post in Chhattisgarh and Odisha in 2009-10, BSF has grown to 108 COB / POS in the interior area of these two states,” Adg said.
In the past two years, eight cobs have been established in Chhattisgarh and six in Odisha, he added.
BSF has supported the installation of 91 cellphone towers in the Chhattisgarh Cancer District and Narayanpur, Adg said.
