Chandigarh: The threat to towering the third wave of Covid-19 has pushed the UT health department to plan the arrangement of oxygen plants in private hospitals to prevent any weak effects witnessed during the second wave that exceed health infrastructure in the city.
A team of officials may be formed to hold discussions with hospitals, said sources.
The team will identify hospitals where plants can be arranged because they need enough space.
The department is eyeing two private hospitals in the industrial area, the source added.
A senior UT official said even though they had sufficient oxygen supply settings, they searched for additional settings.
The health department is quite prepared with a medical oxygen supply, he is claimed.
To overcome the spread of infections among children, the Government Multi-Special Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, has decided to establish a dedicated pediatric pediatric center that is dedicated to 32 beds.
The Sector-16 hospital already has 20 ICU bed facilities for children.
It has eight ventilators and 12 beds with oxygen facilities in the hospital surgical ward.
