AHMEDABAD: The state government is preparing for its potential third wave of Covid-19 by decreasing its capacity in petroleum and beds capability, said Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani on Monday.
Rupani and deputy CM Nitin Patel and senior officers of wellness division introduced the roadmap for handling the spike, which can be predicted throughout the previous quarter of this year.
TOI in its continuing series on the groundwork for third tide had signaled at several problems confronted throughout the next wave and trainings by several quarters to the next wave.
“We all hope and prepare yourself that there wouldn’t be any third tide of the outbreak — we need to be ready for the potential surge.
Therefore, our staff has readied an action plan to attack the next wave,” stated CM Rupani.
“We decreased the instances from 14,605 into 400 with restricted lockdown from 36 towns and cities.
The focus would be on raising 3Ts — examining, monitoring and therapy.” According to the program, Gujarat would raise overall Covid hospitals in 1,800 to 2,400, oxygen beds from 61,000 to 1.1 lakh, ICU beds from 15,000 to 30,000 along with ventilator beds from 7,000 to 15,000.
Similarly, the amount of physicians would be raised by 2,350 to 4,000 along with MBBS physicians and interns in 5,200 to 10,000.
“Around 2,000 beds could be inserted for paediatric Covid maintenance in Gujarat.
Children-friendly wards have been made, whereas the amount of paediatric ventilators are raised to 1,000,” explained Rupani.
The CM added that the new control and command facility could connect all of the private and government hospitals of this country to provide real-time upgrades on bed availability.
Patel, who’s also health ministry of the nation, stated that nobody could predict the specific quantities of instances from the next wave.
“However, the projections are predicated on the spike which we’d seen lately, and supposing that the amount will be double that summit.
We’re decided to flatten the curve,” he explained.
Jai Prakash Shivahare, state health commissioner, in his presentation to the press said the nation is procuring sufficient medicines depending on the expertise of next wave.

“Gujarat will improve its own capacity for genome sequencing to 1,000 samples a month from July,” explained Shivahare.
