VIUDHUNAGAR: Four people were killed and eight others, including a woman, suffered a serious injury in a fireworks explosion unit in a village near Sivakasi on Saturday.
The accident occurred around 9 in the morning in one of the RKVM fireworks warehouses in Kalathur Village under Pancrayat VadugataTi.
Initial investigations by the Police and Fire and Rescue Department showed that chemical reactions occurred during mixing materials in warehouse charging chemicals for magazine making units, causing explosions.
Five warehouses were destroyed while most warehouses were damaged in the explosion.
