Shimla: Four people were killed in place and three were injured when the excavator fell into the canyon in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as an excavator operator HOM Raj and three people employed by the Department of Public Works Parmasi, Dhabe Ram and Bhim Singh.
They are native to Kullu, said the police district supervisor Gurdev Sharma.
Excavators fell into the canyon near the Saminullah on Jalan Banjar-Dalvahad in Graho Village under the Banjar Sub-Division in the afternoon, Sharma said.
He said Ram Pennu was injured, Chaman Lal and Tara Chand, also the native of Kullu, was treated at the Banjar Civil Hospital.
Prima Facie appeared that the excavator fell into the canyon because the operator lost control.
But the police were investigating this problem, Sharma added.
