Bareilly / Ballia: Four people, including two children, were killed and three others were injured in a separate incident from the collapse of the wall after heavy rain and storm in the Uttar Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.
A storm was accompanied by fallen trees and electric poles in Bareilly on Tuesday night, said District Administrative Officer.
Two children, two and five years old, died in a separate wall collapse incident.
Officials have rushed to two places to request assistance, districts, finance and additional income, said Manoj Kumar Pandey.
In the subhashnagar police station area, Nihal Thakur (5) died after a wall collapsed to him when he went to the grocery store.
Local residents rushed to the nearest hospital where the doctor said he was taken dead, police said.
Sachin (2) died in the Saidpur Hawkins area under the Izzatnagar police station after the wall of the house under construction collapsed due to rain and storm.
Toddler’s sister was also injured in the incident and underwent treatment at the hospital, they said.
Reports of home collapse have also been received from other parts of Bareilly.
In most areas, the power supply is disturbed throughout the night because of revoking the electricity pole, Pandey said.
A large number of trees are also removed, disturbing normal life.
Lucknow-Bareilly Highway was closed for four hours because the trees fell, he said.
In Ballia, a 55-year-old woman, Purshottam Devi, was killed and her husband and her grandson was injured when the walls of their house in Sunbrupur Village in the Rasra police station collapsed on Wednesday morning, police said.
The three were rushed to the public health center, where the doctor stated Devi died.
Her husband and grandchildren underwent treatment at the district hospital, they said.
In a similar incident in Chitrakoot, a 68-year-old woman, Kunti, was killed after the ‘Kutcha’ wall collapsed in the Shankar Bazar area in the Karvi police station area, Kotwali aware on Tuesday night, police said.
