Thiruvananthapuram: The Varkala authorities on Saturday, have arrested four men on charges of assaulting police officers on Covid-19 liability.
The authorities have identified the accused because Shameer (29) of both Sreenivasapuram, Al Rabeen (28) of both Raghunathapuram, Sunil (48) of both Mannaniya Laksham Veedu colony along with Mohammed Noufal (25) of all Sreenivasapuram.
The alleged assault occurred nearby Laksham Veedu Colony in Varkala on Thursday about 4.30pm.
Junior Health Agency Aneesh and Arun, a daily wage personnel below Varkala Municipality, will be the complainants in the situation.
Besides attacking the complainants, the accused vandalized the vehicle where the latter came immediately.
The car belonged on your Varkala Municipality, authorities said.
Varkala SHO S Dwijesh stated that the complainants had seen the colony as part of the awareness drive over the Covid-19 pandemic.
The accused were accumulated in a public area close to the colony also have been consuming alcohol.
Viewing that, the Junior Health Inspector stopped the car and questioned their actions that could impact the struggle against the outbreak.
Provoked from the questioning, the accused attacked him.
Arun, who attempted to intervene, was assaulted.
“We received 2 complaints in relation to the event.
One from both men who confronted the alleged assault and one by the Municipality about the vandalism of the car,” the Inspector said, adding that the Municipality had promised the vehicle suffered damages worth approximately Rs 50,000 after the vandalism action.
They have been captured from various hideouts in and about Varkala.
They were made before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
