Nainital: The day after Senior Leader Salman Khurshid’s House Congress in Nainital Uttarakhand was damaged, four people were arrested on Thursday in connection with the attack.
The Khurshid house in Satkol, about 15 km from Nainital, was damaged on Monday in the middle of the ongoing controversy over his book “Sunrise on Ayodhaya: Nationality in our day” where it attracts a comparison between Hindutva and Terror clothing like ISIS.
Those who were arrested were identified as Chandan Singh Lodhiyal (27), Umesh Mehta (30), Krishna Singh Bisht and Rajkumar Mehta (29), Deputy Inspector General of Police (dig) Nilesh Anand Bharne.
The 32 bore pistol along with the magazine has also recovered from one of the defendants, he said.
Under the leadership of the Chilwal Kundan, who was also involved in the attack but had not been arrested, the four defendants had gone to the house of the leader of the Congress to burn slogans who were disputing and singing, said excavation.
The defendant claimed that they were “harassed” by the caregiver at the residence of Khurshid, after a fight that managed to lead to vandalism and combustion in its properties.
They have been ordered under various parts of the Indian criminal code and ARM acting, said Bharne.
Shouting pro-Hindutva slogans, the attackers burned the effigion of the Congress leader outside his home under the Bhowali police station in the Nainital District, in addition to damaging a few glass doors and setting a wooden door on fire.
The caregiver, Sunder Lal was also threatened.
Then, a pine was registered against one person, identified, and 20 unknown people based on complaints by Sunder Lal.
