Chennai: Four people who used machetes to cut cakes at a birthday party were arrested near Thireunermalai on Friday.
The police have launched the hunt for four others in connection with the incident.
Police said Udhayakumar, 25, from Srinivasan Street near Pamanmal and his friends planned to celebrate his birthday on October 26.
They met at night, when his friends carry a parang long birthday.
They arranged the table in the middle of the road and cut the cake, police said.
Although the locals were disturbed by the noise pollution of the celebration, they did not file a complaint of the police from fear.
Shankar Nagar police received information about the party the following day and arrested Udhayakumar, Cheman, 21, Arasu, 19 and Rohit, 27.
Some local residents had fired a celebration video and recorded it on social media.
The police said that the defendant was a truck cleaner and driver.
They have bought machetes online, police said.
The police have won machetes from them.
