Beijing: Four people were killed and eight others were injured when part of the road bridge on the highway collapsed in Hubei Province China, said local officials.
The accident took place on Saturday afternoon when part of the bridge stretched over the toll road collapsed in the city of Ezhou.
Three trucks on the fallen bridge and a car was destroyed under a single column bridge that collapsed, closing the two-way traffic toll road, officials said.
Some people worked on the bridge when the accident occurred.
The initial investigation showed that the truck was overloaded with a weight of 198 tons broke into two parts when it fell, sending two other vehicles into it, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.
Provincial Governor and Provincial Deputy Governor have rushed to the scene to lead the rescue, and police officers and firefighters continue to make emergency assistance.
Investigation of the causes of accidents are still ongoing, the report said.
