Edwardsville: Three people were killed by the bad weather in Tennessee, one person died and several were injured in a tornado that is clearly at home breastfeeding Arkansas, and emergency crews in Southern Illinois responding to reports of workers trapped in the Amazon warehouse after fainting roof storm damage.
At least one death was also reported in Missouri as severe thunderstorms, some believed to be a tornado, sweeping the midwest and southern parts of Friday night and into Saturday morning.
In Tennessee, two storm-related deaths were reported in Lake County in the northwest corner of the state, said Dean Flener, spokesman for the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.
The third death was reported in neighboring countries Obion.
Flener said Tennessee Department of Health confirmed the death, but no other details immediately released.
Tornado hit Monette Manor nursing home in Arkansas on Friday night, killing one person and trapping 20 people inside the building when it collapsed, Craighead Judge Judge Marvin told The Associated Press.
Five people were seriously injured, and several others have small ones, he said.
Nursing home has 86 beds.
Day said another nursing home about 20 miles (32 kilometers) away in Truman was badly damaged but no injuries were reported.
Residents are being evacuated because the building was not safe.
Workers at the office of the National Weather Service had to take shelter as the tornado passed through their office in Weldon Spring, Missouri, approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of St.
Louis.
One person died and two others were injured in building collapse near the cities of defiance and new, both just a few miles from the Weather Service Office.
At least 100 emergency vehicles deployed in the Amazon warehouse near Edwardsville, Illinois, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of St.
Louis, where the walls are so far collapsed length of a football field, as well as a roof on it.
Not immediately clear how many people were injured, but one person was flown by helicopter to a hospital.
Edwardsville Police Chief, Fillback Mike said some people who were in the building were taken by bus to the police station in nearby Pontoon Beach for evaluation.
On Saturday morning, the rescue crew is still sifting through the rubble to determine whether there were trapped inside.
Fillback said the process will last for several hours.
Cranes and backhoes brought in to help move debris.
“ Please be patient with us.
Our fire personnel do everything they can to reunite everyone with their loved ones, ” Fillback said in Kmov-TV.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Amazon Fulfillment Center in Edwardsville opened with two warehouses in 2016, with 1.5 million square feet of space.
Warehouse used to store the goods until they are delivered to the mail-order customers.
“ Safety and welfare of our employees and partners is our top priority right now, ” Amazon spokesman Richard Rocha said in a written statement Friday night.
“ We are assessing the situation and will share additional information when available.
” In the community of western Kentucky Mayfield power, several buildings collapsed during bad weather, said Sarah Burgess, a policeman with the Kentucky State Police.
He said several people were trapped in the broken candle factory in Mayfield and that a shift is underway when the hurricane struck.
“ The whole building basically leveled, ” he said.
Although no deaths were immediately reported in Mayfield, coroner was called to the community, said Burgess.
“ We expect the loss of life, ” he said.
Kentucky Gov.
Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency Saturday morning for what he said was a major tornado damage in several western countries.
Beshear said the National Guard has been called upon to respond to the region.
Beshear told Television Wlky that some people in the Mayfield plant when the storm hit “ rescued and safe, but many others are not.
” The photos posted to social media from Mayfield and Windows business exploded in a storm.
In further east in Bowling Green, Western Kentucky University said on Twitter that emergency crews assess significant storm damage and no injuries were immediately reported.
