Nagpur: Nagpur division forest officials have arrested four more accused of hunting for Yavatmal tigers and seized more than 10 kg of tiger bones, two canines, five claws and three mustaches.
Forest Conservator (DYCF) Bharat Singh Had said additional arrest related to the tiger hunting at Umarda in the Yavatmal division in March 2018.
On October 10, seven people from Amravati, Yavatmal, and Wardha were arrested and returned to forest custody until October 18.
On Monday, everything was sent to Magisterial Prisoners (MCR) until October 30.
Seven defendants traveled in SUV (MH-44B-5152) to Nagpur to sell Tiger’s body parts.
When the vehicle reached the Haladgaon Toll Naka on the road Wardha-Butibori, the forest team stopped the vehicle and grabbed the dog and mustache from them.
“During interrogation, seven were accused of revealing the existence of accused and other spots where the parts of the body were hidden.
We raided the place in the number 469 compartment in our Khapri and the houses accused and confiscated the remaining tiger body parts,” said Assistant Conservator (ACF) Narendra Chandewar.
The defendant has been identified as Santosh Kumbhekar, Laxman Kawane, Satish Dukre, and Vinod Devkar.
All produced before JMFC, which sent them to forest detention (FCR) until October 22.
Until now, the team led by Chandewar has caught at least 40 accused of being involved in tiger hunting and selling their body parts.
