Oak Brook: A shooting at the Chicago suburban mall full of Christmas buyers made four injured Thursday, police said.
The incident in the center of Oakbrook in Oak Brook began with two men involved in a shootout in the corridor at around 5:45 a.m., the police chief James Kruger said.
He said the injury was not life threatening.
Three people who were shot might have been hit by Ricocheting bullets.
One person was detained, and the police were looking for another suspect, Kruger said.
“ This is only a very unfortunate event that really comes out of the character for our region, ” said the head.
The Outdoor Mall is the main shopping destination of around 15 miles (24.14 kilometers) west of Chicago.
TV stations with air cameras showed police cars and emergency vehicles spread across the property with their lights flashing.
The buyers interviewed because they were gradually released said they took refuge in shops and changing rooms.
Alex Gay, 23, said he walked in the mall when he suddenly saw people running.
He did not hear gunfire.
“ I vibrate, ” Gay told Chicago Tribune.
