4 STP to operate on Patna in September

Patna: Sewerage processing plant (STP) in Pahadi, Beur, Karmalichak, and Saidpur in Patna is likely to operate in September, according to officials.
STP has a combined capacity of caring for 200 million liters of waste water per day, while covering more than 1.17 lakh households on Patna.
Pahadi and Saidpur stps each have a capacity of 60 million liters per day (MLD), the BEUR STP has a capacity of 43 MLD, and Karmalichak St MLD.
After the underground network is complete, no water that is not treated from the household waste line will be removed directly to Ganga.
After chlorination, waste water will be treated in the sequencing batch reactor and used for irrigation.
Rajeev Kumar Deo, an assistant engineer with the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (Buidco), told toi that around 90% of the work put a waste line and connecting households on the Beur had been completed so far.
“Beur STP will be associated with a 180 km pipe system.
Similarly, in Karmalichak and Saidpur, 85% of work on waste networks has been completed.
Karmalichak STP covers a total length of 96.5km, and Saipur STP 217.88 km,” Deo explained.
He added, “Pahadi STP, which is divided into two zones in accordance with the territory, has a 207.2 km waste pipeline network, with around 75% of the work completed.
The network is around 80% complete and expected to be operational in August.” According to Buidco sources , Wastewater from the region will be disposed of to Ganga or other tributaries after being treated at STPS.
The water treated will be used on agriculture, in industrial facilities, and for other purposes.
The engineers managed to conduct trials in three of the four STPs, which included Saidpur, Beur, and Karmalichak.
They are equipped with advanced infrastructure and built using sequencing batch reactor technology (utilizing the active mud system charging for wastewater treatment).
They are designed to meet the needs of the local population for 30 years.
Two additional stps, in Digha and CancerBagh, are in their initial construction phase.
Digha STP will have a 100 MLD capacity and a 228-km long sewer network, while the CancerBagh STP will have a capacity of 50 MLD and a 150 km gutter network.
