New Delhi: Forty cases of dengue fever have been reported in the national capital this year, according to the civil report released on Monday.
This figure for the period 1 July-January 17 is the highest since 2019, when the count reaches 32.
Only four cases reported in July, according to the report.
Dengue Mosquito larvae breed in clear water and stand, while malaria develops even in dirty water.
Cases of diseases transmitted through vectors are usually reported between July and November, but the period can stretch until mid-December.
SDMC, Nodal agent for the control of the disease borne by a vector in Delhi, in a statement issued last week said that 1,441 construction sites have been examined as part of a sustainable boost, and mosquito breeding reported in 334 of them.
The public health department took action against the owners and contractors of these sites by publishing 160 legal notifications and 175 Challans, said.
Prominent construction sites where mosquito breeding includes L & T construction locations in Bhairo Marg, Dependency Construction Site, Afcon Construction Site in Sarai Kale Khan, Academy of Sahitya in Dwarka Sector 11, Delhi Government Pharmacy in Dwarka, Delhi Government School on the day.
Pallonji Nagar and Shapoorji construction site in the ITPO complex, said the statement.
In accordance with the citizenship reports issued by the city company, the distribution of cases a month this year is – January (0), February (2), March (5), April (10) and June, and June (7), he said.
In previous years, cases in the same period were – 50 (2016), 98 (2017), 43 (2018), 32 (2018) and 28 (2020), according to the report.
However, there were no deaths reported because of dengue fever in the city until now, he said.
According to the Civic report released on Monday, 17 cases of malaria and 10 Chikungunya cases have also been reported until July 17 this year.
Malaria, dengue fever and chikungunya accompanied by high fever and therefore, the doctor felt that people might suspect that they had contracted Covid-19.
