40 deaths, more than 27,500 Covid cases in Delhi

New Delhi: The capital recorded 40 deaths because Covid-19 on Wednesday even when cases spin 27,561, the second highest single-day tally since the beginning of the pandemic.
The positivity touched 26.22%.
The death toll was the highest in a day since June 10 last year when the national capital recorded 44 deaths.
The city reported 23 deaths due to Covid-19 on Tuesday and 17 every Sunday and Monday.
In the past 12 days, Delhi has recorded 133 Covid fatalities which are more than the number of deaths recorded in the past six months.
Overall, 130 deaths were reported in Delhi in the last six months – nine in December, seven in November, four September, September 29 in August and 76 in July.
During the second wave height, 28,395 cases – the highest one-day calculation – and 277 deaths were recorded in Delhi on April 20 last year.
Critical care experts say the number of deaths can rise further because of the reception because Covid-19 is on the rise and many patients need oxygen support or ventilators.
“Most of them have comorbidity,” said Dr.

Among patients who were hospitalized, data showed, 739 requires oxygen support and 91 patients in ventilator support.
“Fortunately, health infrastructure was not overwhelmed this time even though the number of cases was very high.
Only 2,363 (16%) of a total of 14,802 Covid beds were occupied in the city at this time,” said a senior official.
The doctor said Covid-19 caused by the Omicron variant, which drives the third wave in India and many other parts of the world, lightly in most patients because this only affects the upper respiratory tract.
