Pune: Pune District Administration has decided to shift 40 families living in Kondhare Village to a safer place in Bhor Tehsil because of the possibility of landslides.
More than 200 villagers from the village shifted to a safe location in the nearest villages on Friday and Saturday.
On Saturday, the Rajesh Deshmukh District collector, Chief Executive Zilla Parishad Ayush Prasad and officials from the Government of Bhor Tehsil visited Kondare and discussed this issue with the villagers.
District collector Pune Rajesh Deshmukh and other officials during a visit to Kondhare village in Sabtudeshmukh told Toi, “Rehabilitation of around 40 families living in the village is needed considering the possibility of landslides there.
We will prepare proposals and forward it to the government to be approved.” Deshmukh, Who interacts with the villagers, said, “There are villages who are prone to landslides in the district.
We will review them and take appropriate safety measures in the coming days.” Ranjit Shivarde, Vice President ZP, said, “Kondarare Village needs At least five hectares of land to build a house.
Two years ago, the district government had prepared a proposal, but nothing happened to date.
“Varandha Ghat in Bhor, which connects Pune District to Raigad, is still not bound because landslides.
Shivare said, “About 10 villages in Bhor have been cut off for the last two days because landslides.
We have provided food and kerosene to the villagers.” Meanwhile, the Army team and Indian army (NDRF team) evacuated more than 1,600 people From areas affected by flooding in Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Raigad and Ratnagiri in the last 24 hours.
The rescue team was mainly deployed at Satara and Raigad because the maximum people were stranded in these districts, officials said.
When the path of approaching the villages affected by the flood has been damaged in several locations, they must navigate the river and rivulet to reach the villages affected by flooding, they said.
South Command forces on the operation were intensified on Saturday by mobilizing 15 teams to a location far away in these districts.
“The columns are involved in the rescue of local villagers stranded in submerged areas and in restoring normally in flooded areas.
More than 100 people have shifted from areas affected to safer locations,” the authorities said.
The army also provides food cooked and drinks water in a tanker to the villagers.
The medical team of doctors and army nursing assistants has been deployed to provide assistance and drugs needed to local residents evacuated from flood-affected areas.
“The army cleared the main route in the village of Posare Budduk District Ratnagiri was blocked because of landslides,” added the officer.
The army has formed a flood-assistance operating war room at Pune’s headquarters from the South Command to monitor the ongoing situation.
Additional 10 Flood Relief Teams have been vigilant for possibilities.
Meanwhile, NDRF, who had deployed a team in the villages affected by landslides in Satara, had to work in 10ft mud which developed for the past 24 hours.
“Metrieving corpses from Slush are very challenging.
But our people work hard in the rain and managed to take 15 bodies since Saturday morning,” said Anupam Srivastava, the 5th NDRF battalion commander.
