Chandigarh: In a large breakthrough, Punjab police in the operation along with the border security force on Saturday confiscated 40 kg of heroin along the international border with Pakistan in the Amritsar district, officials said.
Seizures are made in the Ramdas sector, around 300 km from Chandigarh.
“Proud of SSP Amritsar (rustic), Guleneet Khurana and his team for recovery of more than 40 kg of heroin from the Ramdas sector from the Indo-pack border around 3am this morning,” said Director General of Police Dicka Gupta in a tweet.
He said the operation was carried out on the specific input produced by Amritsar police.
Punjab shares an international border of 553 km, with a barbed wire fence, with Pakistan.
