Mumbai: When the city witnessed a drastic leap in the case of Covid-19 in the past week, IIT-Bombay also, saw burst in the case.
Of the 40 cases detected in December on campus, 24 were reported only in the last 10 days.
About half of 24 these are students.
In fact, eight campus residents, including five students, were tested positive on Thursday.
The Institute has seen a decline in post-October cases.
At present, more than 7,000 students are on campus.
While the institution plans to move to hybrid teaching in the new semester starting January 3, the administration will conduct an online lecture in the coming week.
“We have asked all faculty members to conduct online lectures at least for a week given the increasing case.
The decision will be taken soon for the semester.
We will follow the direction of the state government,” an official said.
The Institute recently reported a small group of cases in Hostel 18.
