Mumbai: Head of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Iqbal Singh Chahal on Thursday said that the Civic body had completed 40 percent of the 12,700 crore Mumbai Road Road project, which is currently underway from Drive Marine to Worli.
Project work has been postponed by one year due to court cases and also Covid-19 pandemics.
Chahal said that 40 percent resolved work also included a one kilometer-long tunnel under the Malabar hills.
“Mumbai coastal road 27 km from Marine Drive to Worli, including a length of an exchange of 16 km, being executed by BMC from his own funds.
Tunnels are the first of under the sea tunnel with a diameter of 40 feet, which is being executed in the country,” said Chahal, adding that now the remaining 900 meter tunnel length.
When BMC started a coastal work working in 2018, a 48-month deadline was set to complete the project, which has now been postponed by one year.
Chahal said that work on the project was ongoing 24×7 in three shifts and will be completed in November 2023.
On September 25, 2018, that the BMC committee gave a nod to the project and the work assigned immediately from October 2018 and so on.
Officials from the Department have agreed that when the project work began the settlement target was four years, but the court lived in 2019 caused the ongoing construction work to be jammed for several months.

Chahal also said that this project would include a 125 hectare park in the reclamation land bordering the coastal road with underground car parking.
