Jaipur: The customs department seized around 400 grams of gold worth around Rs 19 lakh from a passenger who landed here from Sharjah on Wednesday.
Passengers have not been arrested because gold is within the allowed limit.
“We intercepted one passenger who arrived from Sharjah through Arab Air morning flights.
After a thorough examination of his luggage, 407.90 grams of gold worth RS 19.90,552 have been confiscated.
The gold is hidden in the vacuum cleaner and incense electric burner.
Further investigation It is happening, “said a customs department official.
Last month, officials had confiscated 350 grams of gold from a passenger who landed from Dubai and in May other passengers who came from Sharjah were intercepted with the same amount of precious metals.
Officials claim that because of locking, gold smuggling has diminished due to limited flights, but because restrictions are lolared, they anticipate more seizures in the coming days.
Gold seizures also show that smugglers have now turned to new ways to get noble metals illegally from abroad in India.
Official claims that while smugglers use previous electronic items to smuggle gold, now they change the metal into part of the product.
Everything includes slippers, ironing, fountain pens and even human rectals are used by smugglers to hide gold in various forms, to smuggle to India.
According to officials, those involved in gold smuggling continued to change the airport.
In past seizures, it was also found that the operator was paid with a very small amount to bring gold and most of the working class people were given tickets to the house.
