Noida: The painted stork suspected of being shot and then recovering from the park by a member of the animal shelter has been treated back to health and released back to its original habitat.
The bird suffered a pellet injury near his wing when shot on December 7 last year, said the sector 94 animal shelter team.
It was saved from the park in the 15A sector, where he collapsed, after the crew from the shelter, managed by the Dhyan Foundation, alerted.
“One of the bird wings suffered severe pellet injuries and we thought someone had tried to do a shooting shoot.
It’s really illegal,” Anuradha said from the animal shelter to Ti.
Because of their reduced population, the painted stork is under the species category which is almost threatened in the International Union for natural conservation (IUCN) red list of its wings.
“It was stored under observation until mid-January when we also tested his flying ability and the health of his wounded wings.
After recovering completely, we released birds on January 18 this year,” he added.
Shubham Mani Katiyar, who treated the bird in the shelter, said Blood flowing out of one of his wings when the bird was brought in.
“We first started trying to stop the blood flow.
Then, we gave some painkillers.
After surgery, we checked on Birds every day, feed medicines and fish, which are also their favorite food.
All of this helped him recover and immediately started flying inside the cage where he was placed.
After testing and watching him for a few more days, the bird was finally released in his original habitat , “Katiyar said.
Stork survives, which is migratory, mostly found in large sub-continent swamps.
Man-induced factors have caused a decrease in their natural habitat.
“It is very difficult to treat wild species.
We are happy to take care of him back to health.
It was indeed very satisfying seeing the bird took the wings and flew away,” Dogrra said.
