Hyderabad: In the current season, the Department of Civil Equipment Telangana bought 42 lakh metric tons of rice from farmers throughout the state on Sunday.
The Minister of Civil Equipment, Gangula Kamalakar, reviewed the status of rice procurement with officials on Monday.
Kamalakar said 42 lakh metric tons of rice worth 8,268 crore bought.
Of the 4.5 lakh farmers registered in the online procurement management system, around 3.75 lakh farmers receive payments (OPM).
He said that there would be no shortage of funds for the purchase of rice in the state and rice would be raised regardless of the state situation.
This procurement is 11 lakh metric tons higher than the procurement of the previous year at the same time.
According to the minister, procurement is now finished at 1,280 centers in 13 districts.
6,775 centers have been established around the country so far.
The minister continued by saying that all Indian food companies (FCI) were full Godown and that the middle wing now refused to hire Godown again, causing problems with plant storage.
He also said that despite many complaints from the state government about this problem, there was no response from the center or FCI.
He added that there was a problem with Rice Stocking because (FCI) Godown in Suryapet, Siddipet, Sangeddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, and Nirmal Regency was not empty.
State administration anticipates that rice production as a whole will be around 60 metric tons of this season.
The Minister also expressed anger that the FCI did not send a rack on time, causing more delays in procurement.
Officials said that all rice this season would be appointed.
