Patna: Overall 43 new centers must be arranged in a state of training in spinning and weaving cotton-khadi and silk threads for women and girls to make it economically independent, State Industry Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said on Tuesday.
Speaking at the launch of a training center like that at City Khadi Mall, he said women who lost their husbands and parents in the Covid-19 pandemic would be given preference in the training that will be provided by Bihar State Khadi Gramodyog Board.
The minister said more Khadi Mall as in Patna will appear in Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and style to make Khadi products more popular and create employment opportunities in the state.
He said the industry department would emphasize promoting traditional industries such as Khadi and Handloom in the state too.
“The demand for trained workers in the Khadi and Handloom sectors will be higher in the coming days,” he said.
Shahnawaz said the industrial department was considering preparing exhibition centers-cum-sale products of Khadi and Handlooms at the railway station outside the state to benefit workers related to traditional industries.
The minister said the department would not leave the stone missed to provide benefits for weavers and related workers during the 75th warning of the country’s freedom, which was celebrated as ‘amritmahotsav’.
To promote Khadi products, the state will participate in the 75 ‘Hoonar Haat’ organized by the center.
He revealed that the exhibition would be organized inside and outside the country in October if Covid remained under control.
The Board of Bihar State Khadi Gramodyog has been approved by RS1 Crore for that purpose.
In addition, RS1.25 Crore has been approved to provide training to women and girls for 2021-22 fiscal, Hussain said.
