460 children were killed for violence in Afghanistan during the first half of 2021: UNICEF

KABUL: UN Children’s Funds (UNICEF) in their latest reports said that at least 460 children were killed because of non-stop violence in the first six months of the year in Afghanistan.
The report also quoted the murder of “nine family members, including four girls and two sons,” which was reportedly killed on Thursday morning, “when the rest of the war exploded inside the house in Kunduz,” Tolonews reported.
The report also stated that three other children were injured.
This emphasizes that the life of thousands of people in Afghanistan has been influenced by the waves of four decades of conflict.
A 6-year-old boy named Hibatullah who lost his leg during the conflict in Nangarhar said that he now depends on artificial feet.
Hibatullah’s father, Abdullah said, “My son was beaten with a bullet in a clash in Nangarhar.
He was hospitalized for a long time and then his legs were amputated.” He stressed that the family became desperate.
Furthermore, Abdullah said that the child was now under “treatment by the Red Cross and (they) made artificial feet for him.” Mohammad Fahim, a therapist, stated that every day, 10 to 15 children brought to him struggled with frozen brains.
He called the situation very dangerous and blamed the war for the incident.
UNICEF also expressed concern over the conditions of Afghan children.
“We are also worried about the number of children who are killed by explosive devices so far this year.
Death of one heartbreaking child,” said Samantha Mort, Chair of Communication, Advocacy, and Civic’s Engagement for UNICEF, according to ToloNews.
Over the years, Afghan children have struggled with poverty and malnutrition, according to UNICEF.
